जोधपुर/आबूरोड/बीकानेर.भंवरी देवी के अपहरण में इस्तेमाल हुई शहाबुद्दीन की बोलेरो की सीएफएसएल टीम ने भले ही करीब तीन माह बाद जांच की हो, मगर विशेषज्ञ वैज्ञानिकों ने उसमें से कुछ अहम सबूत तलाश लिए हैं। शहाबुद्दीन ने 9 सितंबर को यह बोलेरो गुजरात के काणोदर कस्बे में एक मिस्त्री के यहां छोड़ दी थी और उसकी धुलाई भी हो चुकी थी। पिछले दो दिन से दिल्ली से आए फोरेंसिक साइंस के वैज्ञानिकों ने बोलेरो के भीतरी हिस्से के पार्ट्स खोल कर उसमें से भंवरी के बाल निकाल लिए हैं। वैज्ञानिकों का अनुमान था कि जब भंवरी को मारपीट कर सीट के बीच डाला गया था, तब संघर्ष के दौरान उसके कुछ बाल टूटे होंगे। अब बालों का डीएनए टेस्ट करवा कर इसकी पुष्टि की जाएगी। गियर बॉक्स व हैंड ब्रेक के पार्ट्स खोले तो उसमें बाल मिल गए और खून की जांच के लिए केमिकल टेस्ट भी किए। बाल व केमिकल टेस्ट के सैंपल लेकर यह टीम रविवार को दिल्ली लौट गई। अब इन बालों का डीएनए टेस्ट करवा कर पुष्टि की जाएगी ताकि शहाबुद्दीन और सोहनलाल पर आरोप प्रमाणित हो सकें।

२३ युवा व महिला पत्रकारों का सम्मान उदयपुर। राष्ट्र निर्माण में पत्रकारिता की महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका है जिसके लिए सकारात्मक पत्रकारिता की आवश्यकता है। यह विचार विश्व संवाद केन्द्र द्वारा आद्य संवाददाता देवर्षि नारद जयंती पर ''राष्ट्र निर्माण में पत्रकारिता की भूमिकाÓÓ विषय पर आयोजित संगोष्ठी तथा पत्रकार सम्मान समारोह में मुख्य वक्ता के रूप में बोलते हुए पेसिफिक विश्वविद्यालय के प्रो. प्रेसीडेन्ट डॉ. भगवती प्रकाश शर्मा ने व्यक्त किये। पत्रकारों का आह्वान करते हुए कहा कि वे समाजोपयागी सकारात्मक पत्रकारिता के द्वारा राष्ट्र निर्माण में अपना योगदान दें। कार्यक्रम की अध्यक्षता प्रो. एम.एल. कालरा, पूर्व कुलपति (कोटा विश्वविद्यालय) ने की। कार्यक्रम की विशिष्ट अतिथि राधिका लड्ढा (कार्यकारी अध्यक्ष, राजस्थान वनवासी कल्याण परिषद) थी। कार्यक्रम के दौरान विश्व संवाद केन्द्र द्वारा प्रकाशित राष्ट्रीय संवाद के विशेषांक ''मेधावी भारतÓÓ का विमोचन किया गया। इस अवसर पर शहर के विभिन्न प्रिन्ट मीडिया से सम्बद्ध २३ युवा व महिला पत्रकारों जिनमें तरूश्री शर्मा, मधुलिका सिंह, संगीता चतुर्वेदी, इन्दु आचार्य, विकास बोकाडिय़ा, पुष्पेन्द्र सिंह सोलंकी, निर्मल चौबीसा, नानालाल आचार्य, पवन खाब्या, प्रमोद श्रीवास्तव, लीला आचार्य, अजय आचार्य, दिनेश गोठवाल, आशीष चास्टा, कमल कुमावत, मनीष मेघवाल, शांतिलाल जैन, आकांक्षा राव, सुदर्शन, भूपेन्द्र चौबीसा, ज्योति व्यास को सम्मानित किया। विश्व संवाद केन्द्र का परिचय भारतभूषण ओझा ने कराया। विषय प्रतिपादन कमल प्रकाश ने प्रस्तुत किया गया।

In contrast to many prior studies, ecstasy users in a new study showed no signs of cognitive impairment attributable to drug use. Lead author John Halpern of the McLean Hospital in Belmont said, "Researchers have known for a long time that earlier studies of ecstasy use had problems that later studies should try to correct. When NIDA decided to fund this project, we saw an opportunity to design a better experiment and advance our knowledge of this drug." The researchers fixed four problems in earlier research on ecstasy. First, the non-users in the experiment were members of the 'rave' subculture and thus repeatedly exposed to sleep and fluid deprivation from all-night dancing-factors that themselves can produce long-lasting cognitive effects. Second, participants were screened for drug and alcohol use on the day of cognitive testing, to make sure all participants were tested while 'clean'. Third, the study chose ecstasy users who did not habitually use other drugs that might themselves contribute to cognitive impairment. Finally, the experiment corrected for the possibility that any cognitive impairment shown by ecstasy users might have been in place before they started using the drug. The resulting experiment whittled 1500 potential participants down to 52 carefully chosen ecstasy users, whose cognitive function was compared against 59 closely-matched non-users, with tests administered at several stages to make sure participants were telling the truth about their drug and alcohol use.

Koutons Retail appoints SBI

Apparel retailer Koutons Retail India Ltd on Wednesday said it has appointed SBI Capital Markets to draft a debt recast scheme as it was unable to repay short-term debt. "The continuous downfall in the stock price has led to an inordinate delay in raising equity for the company. Because of this, we are being unable to meet the repayment obligations of short term loans," the company said in a statement. The New Delhi-based retailer, valued at Rs866 million, has lost about 91% in market capitalisation in the past six months as concerns mounted about the company's dipping sales and fears of default.

An upcoming episode of her reality TV show Kourtney And Kim Take New York contains raunchy scenes of Kardashian with former Australian flame Shengo Deane, reports the Daily Mail. The 30-year-old socialite is seen locked in embrace with Deane, before sleeping with him in her bedroom. The next morning the couple snuggle underneath Kardashian's white sheets and kiss on camera before Sydney-based Shengo has to perform the 'walk of shame' out of her New York apartment. The pair, who originally met while Kardashian was visiting Sydney last year, organised to meet up in the Big Apple after Shengo sent Kim an email saying hello. Insatiable Kardashian describes her bloke from Down Under as 'tall, dark and has the sexiest Australian accent'. The saucy episode is still set to air, which was filmed before Kardashian started dating her new basketballer boyfriend Kris Humphries. And it is just the latest risque scene aired on the string of Kardashian reality TV series.

Dhoni, spinners dominate New Zealand

The Indian batting emphasised why they are such a feared unit by piling up 360 against New Zealand, despite the failures of Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli, two batsmen who tormented New Zealand in the one-day series three months ago, crafted a century partnership to set the base, before MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina, two batsmen who are crowd favourites in Chennai for their IPL exploits, delighted the fans with brutal hitting that was frenetic even by Twenty20 standards. The final 16 overs brought a jaw-dropping 193 runs to further demoralise a struggling New Zealand outfit, who were eventually crushed by 117 runs. It had been run-of-the-mill stuff till the 34th over, with the bowling mostly mediocre and the batsmen mainly concerned with consolidation. The mandatory ball change in the 35th over prompted the batting Powerplay, and began an hour-long period of carnage. Gambhir started it with lap sweeps and carves over extra cover, followed by three successive boundaries off Tim Southee in the 37th to pick up 31 off 12 deliveries before nicking to the keeper. If New Zealand felt that would provide some respite, there were emphatically proved wrong by Dhoni and Raina, both of whose one-day fortunes have hit a trough in the recent past. Dhoni showed that the bludgeoner of old wasn't gone for good, by thrashing a 61-ball century that had plenty of heaves over midwicket and power-packed drives down the ground. There were some deft placements as well from Dhoni to collect boundaries past short third man and short fine leg. Raina joined in the fun, with his patented swipes towards midwicket fetching him loads of runs in a 25-ball half-century. Jacob Oram's bowling performance perfectly illustrated how New Zealand wilted after a solid beginning. Oram, fighting for a place in the starting XI, started the day with the massive wicket of Virender Shehwag off his first delivery. It got even better for him when he returned for his second spell; he had Kolhi poking at an extremely wide delivery that ended up as a nick to the keeper, and his figures read 7-1-30-2. The smile was off his face in his final burst, though, as Dhoni picked five successive fours off him before Raina swung him for three sixes over midwicket in four balls. Oram kicked the ground in disgust as he ended with 9-1-70-2. The Chennai fans wouldn't have expected such a treat when the superstar opening pair of Tendulkar and Sehwag fell within the first ten overs. It was Kohli who led the recovery initially after the loss of the two wickets, continuing to be in the fluent form that has led to a chorus of calls for finding him a place in the World Cup XI. A combination of hard-hit lofted drives and delicate dinks behind square brought him a half-century, which along with Raina's whirlwind innings will leave the Indian team management reaching for the aspirin when they have to decide which of the two to leave out in the opening match in Dhaka. New Zealand's team management will have headaches of their own, but not as pleasant as India's. The batting can't be blamed for coming up short in the face of a mammoth target, but the bowling, which was taken apart on Wednesday, had shipped loads of runs in the first warm-up against Ireland as well. New bowling coach Allan Donald will have his hands full during the tournament. Ross Taylor, who was captain in the absence of Daniel Vettori, admitted his bowlers had been too expensive. "MS Dhoni batted very well, but I think we leaked 40 or 50 too many runs on that wicket," Taylor said at the post-match press conference. New Zealand began their chase spiritedly with Brendon McCullum and Martin Guptill scoring quickly against the quick bowlers. As on Sunday against Australia, it was the spinners that applied the brakes for India. New Zealand had sprinted to 94 for 0 in 15 overs, when offspinner R Ashwin removed Guptill with a delivery that spun sharply and bounced, flying off the bat handle to Dhoni. McCullum was then dismissed attempting a misjudged run, before Harbhajan Singh removed the two other big names in the New Zealand batting, Jesse Ryder and Ross Taylor. At 147 for 5, the game was up, though New Zealand's lower order lingered around for another 18 overs. Several worries remain for India. Firstly, the ineffectiveness of the fast bowling in the absence of Zaheer Khan. The quicks have been blunted by the opposition openers in both practice games, leaving India pondering who to pick to partner Zaheer on Saturday. The other is the fielding, with two straightforward catches being put down - one by Gambhir at midwicket, and another by Munaf Patel at deep square leg. Dhoni will be satisfied overall with the two wins in the pratice matches, but he won't be getting carried away by these results, especially after India's disastrous 2007 World Cup campaign which had begun with two massive victories in the practice matches.

विधानसभा का बजट सत्र शुरू

जयपुर। राजस्थान विधानसभा का बजट सत्र मंगलवार को शुरू हो गया। राज्यपाल शिवराज वी.पाटिल ने विपक्ष की टोका टाकी के बीच एक घंटे 23 मिनट तक अशोक गहलोत सरकार की उपलब्धियों वाला अभिभाषण पढ़ा। अभिभाषण शुरू करने से पहले माकपा के अमराराम ने यह कहते हुए राज्यपाल के समक्ष आपत्ति की कि आप ऐसी सरकार का अभिभाषण पए़ रहे हैं जिसने राज्य की जनता के लिए कुछ नहीं किया है। राज्य में कानून का नहीं बल्कि पोपाबाई का राज है। अभिभाषण के बीच में भाजपा के ओम बिड़ला ने कहा कि राजस्थान में जमकर अनियमितता हो रही है। सरकार कोई ध्यान नहीं दे रही। पुलिस की कस्टडी में अपराध हो रहे हैं। सत्र के पहले दिन सदन में कुछ अध्यादेश पेश करने के साथ ही कई दिवंगत हस्तियों को श्रद्धांजलि दी गई। राज्यपाल ने अभिभाषण में प्रदेश के सर्वागीण विकास पर जोर दिया। उन्होंने कहा कि सरकार ने अपने इस कार्यकाल में नौजवानों को रोजगार उपलब्ध कराने को प्राथमिकता दी है। चालू वित्तीय वर्ष 2011 में भी एक लाख पदों पर भर्तियां करने का संकल्प दोहराया है। उन्होंने कहा कि सरकार अशिक्षा, गरीबी और बेरोजगारी की समस्या का समाधान कर रही है। गांव, गरीब और किसान को विकास से जोड़कर प्रदेश को खुशहाली के रास्ते पर ले जाया जा रहा है। राज्य में बिजली उत्पादन को प्राथमिकता दी गई। उपलब्ध जल संसाधन के समुचित उपयोग के लिए जल नीति, औद्योगिक विकास के लिए नई नीति और एकल खिड़की जैसी योजनाएं लागू की गई है।

संसद में गतिरोध खत्म करने की कवायद

नई दिल्ली। प्रधानमंत्री मनमोहन सिंह की ओर से जेपीसी पर स्पष्ट संकेत दिए जाने के बाद सरकार ने संसद में जारी गतिरोध को समाप्त करने का ताजा प्रयास करते हुए बुधवार को भाजपा नेताओं के साथ बैठक की। भाजपा सदन की कार्यवाही सुचारू रूप से चलने देने के लिए संसद का बजट सत्र शुरू होने के दूसरे दिन 22 फरवरी को जेपीसी की घोषणा किए जाने पर अड़ी है। वित्त मंत्री प्रणव मुखर्जी से मुलाकात के बाद लोकसभा में विपक्ष की नेता सुषमा स्वराज ने कहा, 'हमने 22 फरवरी को जेपीसी के गठन की घोषणा किए जाने का आग्रह किया ताकि उसी दिन से संसद में कामकाज सुचारू रूप से चलने लगे।' बैठक के बाद सुषमा ने संवाददाताओं से कहा कि भाजपा 21 फरवरी को राष्ट्रपति के अभिभाषण को बाधित नहीं करेगी। उन्होंने कहा, 'लेकिन अगर हमारी माग के अनुरूप अगले दिन जेपीसी की घोषणा नहीं हुई तब कार्यवाही को बाधित किया जाएगा।' इस बैठक में राज्य सभा में विपक्ष के नेता अरुण जेटली ने भी हिस्सा लिया जिसमें सरकार की ओर से गृह मंत्री पी चिदंबरम, संसदीय कार्य मंत्री पवन कुमार बंसल और स्वास्थ्य मंत्री गुलाम नबी आजाद भी शामिल थे। सुषमा ने कहा कि ऐसा लगता कि सरकार के रूख में थोड़ी नरमी आई है। सरकार की ओर से भाजपा नेताओं के साथ यह बैठक प्रधानमंत्री मनमोहन सिंह की आज पत्रकार वार्ता की पृष्ठभूमि में हुई है जिसमें उन्होंने जेपीसी के गठन का संकेत देते हुए कहा था कि उन्हें उसके समक्ष उपस्थित होने में कोई भय नहीं है। सिंह ने कहा था, 'इस बात के पूरे प्रयास किए जा रहे हैं कि संसद की कार्यवाही सुचारू रूप से चलाने के लिए कोई रास्ता निकाला जाए। मुझे उम्मीद कि ऐसा होगा।' गौरतलब है कि इस मुद्दे पर गतिरोध के कारण संसद के शीतकालीन सत्र में कोई कामकाज नहीं हो सका था।

धौनी का शतक, कीवियों को विशाल चुनौती

चेन्नई। कप्तान महेंद्र सिंह धौनीके धुआंधार शतक और मध्य क्रम के बल्लेबाजों की उम्दा पारियों की मदद से भारतीय टीम ने न्यूजीलैंड के खिलाफ विश्व कप के अभ्यास मैच में बुधवार को पांच विकेट पर 360रन का विशाल स्कोर खड़ा किया। धौनीने सिर्फ 64गेंद की अपनी पारी में 11चौकों और तीन छक्कों की मदद से नाबाद 108रन बनाए। धौनीने इसके अलावा सुरेश रैना[50] के साथ पांचवें विकेट के लिए सिर्फ 9.2ओवर में 124रन जोड़े। उन्होंने गौतम गंभीर [89] के साथ भी चौथे विकेट के लिए 68रन की साझेदारी। भारत की ओर से विराट कोहली [59] ने भी अर्धशतकीयपारी खेली। टॉसजीतकर बल्लेबाजी करने उतरे भारत की शुरुआत खराब रही और उसने 42रन के स्कोर तक दोनों सलामी बल्लेबाजों वीरेंद्र सहवाग[23] और सचिन तेंदुलकर [17] के विकेट गंवा दिए। तेंदुलकर को टिमसाउथीजबकि सहवागको जैकब ओरमने बोल्ड किया। गंभीर और कोहली ने इसके बाद तीसरे विकेट के लिए 106रन जोड़कर भारतीय पारी को संभाला। दोनों ही बल्लेबाजों ने खराब गेंदों को नसीहत देने में कोई कोताही नहीं बरती। गंभीर हालांकि 14रन के निजी स्कोर पर भाग्यशाली रहे जब ल्यूकवुडकाककी गेंद पर जेम्स फ्रेंकलिनने उनका मुश्किल कैच छोड़ दिया। कोहली ने 55गेंद में छह चौकों के साथ अर्धशतकपूरा किया। वह हालांकि अपनी पारी को अधिक लंबा नहीं खींच पाए और ओरमकी गेंद पर ब्रैंडनमैक्कुलमको कैच देकर पवेलियन लौटे। गंभीर ने इसके बाद धौनीके साथ मिलकर पारी को पारी बढ़ाया। धौनीने शुरुआत में एक-दो रन लेने को तरजीह दी लेकिन लय में आने के बाद कुछ आकर्षक शाट खेले। गंभीर ने अर्धशतकपूरा करने के बाद आक्रामक रवैया अपनाया और ओरमपर लगातार दो जबकि साउथीपर लगातार तीन चौके लगाए। वह हालांकि 89रन के निजी स्कोर पर साउथीका शिकार बने। उन्होंने 85गेंद की अपनी पारी में 11चौके मारे। धौनीने इसके बाद रैनाके साथ मिलकर न्यूजीलैंड के गेंदबाजों को जमकर सबक सिखाया। धौनीने 43वेंओवर में ओरमकी दूसरी, तीसरी, चौथी, पांचवीं और छठी गेंद में चौके जड़ने के बाद अगले ओवर में नाथनमैक्कुलमकी तीसरी और चौथी गेंद को भी बाउंड्री तक पहुंचाकर लगातार सात चौके जड़े। रैनाने भी अपने तेवर दिखाते हुए ओरमके एक ओवर में तीन छक्के मारे।
